The University of Detroit Mercy is kicking off the annual Senior Class Giving Campaign, which will ensure the university is able to continue guiding Titans towards a boundless future.
The campaign is a yearly initiative which allows the graduating class to collaborate with the university’s fund-development team to create a fundraising campaign in support of a high-impact project on campus selected by participating seniors.
Jacqueline Elliott, Assistant Director of Annual Giving, emphasized the importance of this initiative.
“Our hope is to encourage participation in the campaign by all seniors who will be graduating this year. We want to emphasize all gifts are important, no matter the amount and together the class of 2023, by giving back to Detroit Mercy, can make an impact on whatever project they choose to support,” she said.
All gifts are a necessity for this initiative to be successful. Seniors who are able to contribute a gift that matches their graduation year, $20.23, will receive a pin to wear during graduation to emphasize the impact UDM has had on their academic journey.
The Senior Class Giving Campaign will run through April, which provides seniors more than enough time to participate.
Once the campaign concludes, all donations will be counted and announced to the senior class. Shortly after the announcement the senior class will vote on a project to support.
This senior-lead campaign will allow the senior class to allocate a significant amount of funding towards a project that will make our great school greater. Previous graduating classes decided to create a scholarship for returning students, plant a tree and even buy new chairs for the library.
Elliott is eager about this initiative and is actively looking for more senior engagement.
“We are still looking for senior team members to lead the campaign. Our hope is that students will invite their friends and play an active role in this process,” she said. Elliott said that students who are interested may make a gift at: www.givecampus.com/schools/UniversityofDetroitMercy/2023-class-gift
Seniors, give what was given and participate in a project that gives you the power to make real change at Detroit Mercy.
