Black History Month begins on Sunday, and numerous events will be held on campus to celebrate and enlighten.
Here’s a rundown of what’s planned over the next couple weeks:
* A conversation on race – “The Differences Between Us” – will be open to all, and include a video presentation. Monday, Feb. 3, 6-8:30 p.m., Bargman Room, second floor, McNichols Campus Library.
* An interfaith dinner, focusing on religion’s message about oppression and non-violence, will be offered. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 7-8:30 p.m., second floor ballroom, Student Union.
* Author Shonda Buchanan will speak about her book “Black Indian.” Wednesday, Feb. 5, 6:45-8 p.m., second floor ballroom, Student Union.
* “The Story We Tell,” another in a series of conversations on race, will feature a video presentation and open discussion. Monday, Feb. 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Bargman Room, second floor, McNichols Campus Library.
* “Love Stories from the Underground Railroad” will be offered on Valentine’s Day by history professor Dr. Roy Finkenbine. Friday, Feb. 14, noon to 1:15 p.m., second floor ballroom, Student Union.
