A Day of Giving will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the library on McNichols Campus.
Hosted by the Student Alumni Association, it will run from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and feature activities and prizes. The event aims to promote the importance of alumni engagement and the roles that alumni play at Detroit Mercy.
As part of a contest, student organizations are creating brief videos to creatively express their understanding of the countless ways to give back. The grand prize $500 will be announced at 1 p.m.
Among the highlights of the Day of Giving:
n free giveaways, including a Detroit Mercy tote bag, scarf and touchscreen gloves for all who participate;
n Plinko trivia;
n photo booth with fun props;
n selfie competition where students take three pictures with signs around campus for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card;
n and a raffle for piggy bank participants.
Following the day of events, the alumni association will host a thank-a-thon on the fourth floor of Fisher Building. Students join in helping with calling various donors to thank them for their contributions to the University of Detroit Mercy.
